I BELIEVE LIFE IS ALL ABOUT THE SMALL, SEEMINGLY INSIGNIFICANT MOMENTS & JOYS. LIKE A CUP OF COFFEE ON A SLOW SATURDAY MORNING OR A MIDNIGHT CONVERSATION ABOUT YOUR DREAMS IN LIFE.
Of course, your wedding day is no small moment. It’s one of those of the biggest of your life in fact. Days, weeks, months, & years of your life lead up to this day & the life you are going to spend together. I want to perfectly capture your big day & the most momentous of moments — the first look, a loved one zipping up your dress, your closest friend helping you tie your bow tie, your walk down the aisle, that passionate first kiss, your reception dessert of choice.
Beyond that though I promise to have an acute eye for the small details. I take my passion for small joys into your wedding day to ALSO capture moments like — your parent tearing up during the speech your sibling gives, a hug between you & a friend you haven’t seen since their wedding, laughter surrounding everyone while waiting for dinner to be served, the way the light is perfectly hitting a wedding party member's bouquet, a fleeting look between you & your lover as you both are greeting guests on opposite sides of the reception. There are so many beautifully unplanned moments on your wedding day. My associates & I will be there to capture each one.
PHOTOGRAPHY IS NOT JUST MY JOB,
it is my deepest passion. To tell your love story would be the greatest honor. In my story telling process, I follow three simple, but powerful, values...
I am not going to make you fit into a vision that you do not hold. My job is to make your vision come alive. & if you are a bit lost, then my job is to brainstorm and story board with you till we find a vision that makes your heart come alive! When we are taking photos, I will apply everything we spoke about prior to your wedding day to ensure you are delivered photos that feel like you. That is why SUCH a big focus of my wedding work is capturing those in between moments. I want to capture the fleeting look, the happy tears, the uncontrollable laughter, authentically happening between you two and your guests that I could never fabricate with a photography prompt. My eye will always be on the lookout.
Joy is not just my middle name. It permeates every aspect of my work (& hopefully my life!). I will work joyfully with you in the months planning your wedding, capture the joy of the day, and joyfully enter every situations we come at together. Wedding days can be overwhelming. Sometimes things go wrong. If the weather turns and we have to last minute transform your outside ceremony to an indoor one, I will be the first to start moving chairs and do it with a smile on my face. Because I am not just with you to take photos. I am with you to ensure your day is as stress free, and as full of joy as it can be, no matter what comes our way!
You are not like any other couple. Your decor, your love story, your dress, your tie, your pantsuit, your ideal Friday night looks so different from that of the couple I photographed the weekend before your wedding day — so why would I treat you to the same or apply my same exact prompts as the weekend before? I won’t! I of course have a consistent editing style and my go to photography prompts, but I will play off of your wedding’s energy to capture photos that are creatively and uniquely yours. I will come to your wedding day with fresh excitement and creative juices for everything that makes your wedding distinctly yours.
When you book with me you can expect...
• A deeply personalized approach to your story
• Calls to talk through your vision & the details of your day.
• Excitement from me for everything about you, your partner, & the love I am photographing.
• Help with things like location scouting (if you are eloping to NYC for example), a list of other vendors you could hire, shot listing, an outfit guide for couples sessions, what all to include in your details photos for your wedding day, & anything else that you may be fuzzy on!
• & ULTIMATELY you can expect a fellow partier; I am here to truly celebrate you & each moment of your wedding day/elopement.
I approach editing with an acute attention to detail...
The image here with the classic New York taxi was nearly perfect. The sunrise was giving us golden light like no other, & all the colors between Katie & Matthews outfits to the taxi to the buildings were perfectly coming together, except for one thing... the advertisement on this mini van taxi was a loud blue & purple, with some random mans face on it. The ad risked ruining the entire vibe of the photo. So I did what any good photographer should do. I photoshopped the ad out. Then, thought to myself "Why not photoshop in a photo of Katie & Matthew from later on in the session?!?" & that is just what I did. If any eye sore risks ruining a glorious image from your wedding or couples session, I will enable every tool I have to erase it, & create something magical in its place.
Here is my current travel schedule - I would love to add your celebration location to my list!

“We aren't really big selfie / photo people and aren't used to posing together, but Carissa made the whole process feel very natural. Having her tell us how to stand/pose really helped me feel confident and comfortable, and resulted in really natural looking photos (in the best way!) She also had great suggestions for poses I wouldn't have thought of, and they ended up being some of our favorites."”
