1: Engagement party

To even be considered to photograph the day where your familial worlds will be colliding, is an absolute honor. Seriously. I do not take capturing monumental moments like this lightly. Plus, selfishly, your engagement party sounds bomb. Capturing immersive experiences for your guests at a Brooklyn art gallery?! Sign me up!

My favorite weddings are the ones where I was already a part of the couple's love story prior to the wedding day. To get to know you two & your families at this party, all while capturing the exploding laughter, tears of joy, & massive hugs that will come, would be such a pleasure no matter what, but especially if I get to photograph your wedding as well. This would be the perfect time for us to establish rapport, while also making your dream photos come to life.

2: Engagement Session

I want to make this TWA or dumpling eating vision come to life. Whether we go as far as you two booking a room, & we get room service for a little in home/luxury vibe session like this, before taking some fire pics in the the lobby & even on the tarmac, or we just sneak in & decide to opt for the "as for forgiveness later" type of vibe, I am here for it.

If TWA is not the move, then I would love to squat on the curbs of Chinatown, Anthony Bourdain style, while chowing down on some good dumplings, before walking over to boba spot, & then ending in the mesmerizing lantern filled streets, all while taking unconventional engagement photos.

One of my greatest honors as a wedding photographer is getting to be in the moments that are often private to most of the world. Be it Lauren putting on some finishing touches on makeup, laughing with your friends who surround you as you get ready, or Nick putting on his suit jacket, I love capturing these moments to be treasured for years to come.

As you & your closest friends get ready, be it at a hotel or at the venue, many precious moments are shared. Champagne toasts & uncontrollable laughter, each of which will be captured by our ready eyes.

2: ceremony

The ceremony is such a beautiful time of showcasing your commitment in front of those closest to you. For me & my associates, we will not just capture the walks down the aisle & your first kiss, but also the way Nick smiles as Lauren gives her vows, & the way your mom tears up as you two say yes to forever with each other.

If you move forward with us, we will approach every moment with an intentional & artistic heart, & capture moments of each of your favorite people bearing witness to the commitment you are making to each other. You are bringing all your people together for a reason, so we will also capture their reactions.

3: group photos + bride & groom photos

Family photos are such a joy. I do not want this to be a mundane part of your celebration, but, instead, right after the ceremony, let's capture hugs & laughter that will undoubtedly come after you two say "I do". Then (depending on your run of show) we will move into taking group photos of different variations of family members & get these done in an efficient manner so we can continue on with the rest of your day.

Honestly, wedding party photos will be happening all throughout the day. We will make sure there is some solid time set aside to take photos just with the bridesmaids, just with the groomsmen, & then with the whole wedding party. However, I memorize the faces of your family & wedding party intentionally, to always be looking for completely candid moments shared between you two & your core group of people, as displayed above.

I will give you two prompts that help you feel comfortable in front of the camera, as well as play off your natural energy together to capture moments that are authentically you. We will take classic bride & groom photos that will make your parents proud to hang on their living room walls, as well as candid photos of joy that you will want to make your phone lock screen.

Mingling photos are the bread & butter of our work. When I cull through the thousands of photos my associates & I take during a wedding day, some of my biggest smiles come from seeing those in between moments we captured. Whether it is a hug, laughter, a cheers between two people, or anything else that unfolds, I am here for every moment that would have gone unnoticed if it were not for our cameras.

From every moment, planned or unplanned, we will be there to capture a documentarian like, perspective, so that when you two look through your finished gallery it truly feels like you are reliving the day all over again.

Additionally, I will work with you two on your timeline to ensure we take photos at the most opportune times that will give you both optimal amount of time with your guests at cocktail hour - you brought your favorite people together for a reason after all!

What better way to celebrate right after you two say "I do" than in the company of those closest to you over a good meal?! Food is at the center of so much community, & beautiful moments of laughter occur when sharing in a good meal. Whether it is just that, laughter, or spontaneous toasts that are given, we will be a fly on the wall capturing all the candid memories that take place.

6: party time

What is a wedding if not the party of a lifetime?! After those slow dances are had, & your toasts are made, we will be getting on that dance floor with you all to celebrate the life you two are starting together. From your friend from college who is dougie-ing like nobody's business, to your sibling who is busting out their best moves, as your photographer, I will have my most comfortable shoes on, so I can stay on my feet all evening & not miss a single moment.

Below are some film photos from previous weddings, elopements, & engagement sessions.

The Carissa Joy Photo treatment is one that takes a real look at who you are as a couple, & documents your wedding day authentically to who you are. I hope you feel that already by the fact that I have mostly included imagery that could translate to a unique & creative engagement session, as well as candid images with our past couples' families, because we know how special those memories are. My team & I believe we are best suited for you, because of the way we specialize in the in between moments, both big & small, so we hope to help make that vision come to life for you in both digital & film (more on the film investment later).

Investment Proposal for engagement party + engagement session coverage: $1,550

If the investment for the whole wedding is not something you are interested in right now, I still want to do what I can to make the engagement party + session coverage as doable as possible! I am OBSESSED with so much of what we talked about last night, I do not want to let this opportunity slip through my fingers SO... not only do I want to give you 2.5 hours of coverage for $1,550 (my 2022 pricing, whereas my 2023 pricing is $1,850), I also want to throw in the engagement session in this option!

I thrive off of authentic moments, especially those that are as big as your families meeting for the first time. To be able to crystalize those memories for you two on January 28th, & then join you on your engagement session sometime this year, would be an absolute honor.

*regardless of which option you choose, I guarantee at least 70+ digital images per hour, for both engagement options as well as per hour of wedding coverage service (but I love to follow through on the over deliver sentiment ;)).

Also, once you book with me, I will send you a full outfit guide PDF that will be helpful in picking out your outfits! Then, I will always be available to help you choose between options as well! I am here to help as much or as little as you want, I love having an avenue for my inner stylist to come out haha.

Film Investment Options:

Film has a special character to its images. It is not just a trend making its way through the current wedding zeitgeist, it is a timeless practice of capturing love in an authentic way. I genuinely think that film photography is the most romantic way to capture a wedding & love story, as the character of the images give off warm vibes & are inherently both nostalgic & timeless. The practice of film photography truly brings such intentionality to the moment, that can be felt & experienced when you receive the photos.

Wedding 35mm Film Add On: $1,000 (includes an additional photographer for the entire wedding day who specialized in film & can act as the second shooter on digital as well, three rolls of film, & the editing of all 102-108 film images).

Engagement Party Film Add On: $500 (includes an additional photographer for the entire 2.5 hours who specialized in film & can act as the second shooter on digital as well, 2 rolls of film, & the editing of all 68-72 film images).

Engagement Session Film Add On: $200 (includes an additional photographer for the entire 1-1.5 hours who specialized in film, 1 roll of film, & the editing of all 34-46 film images).

We deliver each film photo taken, even if it is slightly out of focus or blurred, because that is the magic of film photography - "mistakes" are made beautiful.

Additional Costs that would be agreed upon in the contract: $400/hour for additional hours of services & $200/roll of film for any additional rolls of film.

If at any point in the planning process you two decide you want more hours of coverage or additional rolls of film, I will have this agreement written in our contract giving you two the space to scale up the services at any point!
